Google Phone App Latest Update will Automatically Record Calls from Unknown Numbers

A call recording feature was launched by Google's phone app that only deals with Pixel devices and some chosen Nokia and Xiaomi smartphones. In the continuing call screen, a recording button appears that plays back a voice, alerting all participants that the conversation is being recorded. According to some sources, however, the most recent Google Phone Software update would automatically record calls with unknown calls.

New Update Google Phone App automatically records calls from unknown numbers

An APK teardown of the current version 59 of the Google Phone app (performed by XDA-Developers) shows some text strings suggesting that a new function will allow users to start recording all phone calls from unknown numbers not on the phone contacts of a device.

In fact, one string is a disclaimer that reads:

You or the other person in your call might be somewhere that requires everyone to consent to being recorded. Everyone will be notified ahead of time that the call is being recorded. It’s up to you to follow laws about recording conversations. Recordings are stored only on your phone.

Two other options will be available. One is "Record Always" while the other states "Cancel." Depending on their desires, users can select any of these.

No information about this has been released by Google. Also, it is not clear when this upgrade will be available to all.
