PTCL group successfully manage 5G Trial in Pakistan

PTCL Group, one of Pakistan's largest telecommunications and networking infrastructure groups, which has successfully managed 5G technology at a ceremony conducted at PTCL Headquarter, hosted by Syed Amin Ul Haque, Federal Minister of IT & Telecom. The 5G experiment was performed on a non-commercial basis in a limited environment.

The event was attend by Federal Secretary of IT & Telecom, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Pakistan Telecom Company Limited (PTCL), Chairman of the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA), Major General (R) Amir Azeem Bajwa HI (M), and  H.E. Hamad Obaid Ibrahimi Alzabbi, UAE Ambassadors to Pakistan, H.E. Nong Rong, Chinese Ambassadors to Pakistan, senior ministry and PTCL official and members of the PTCL Group.

At the ceremony, Syed Amin Ul Haque, Federal Minister of IT & Telecom, along with many other heads of state, gave an outline of live 5G access technologies. The demos included cloud gaming, remote surgery and a summary of the expected 5G technology implementations in Pakistan. In comparison, the PTCL Group was able to reach the highest signal strength of download rates of up to 1,685 Gbps throughout a 5G trial in a small environment.

PTCL Group has shown a 5G remote surgery trial that can help change people's lives. If the environment has been developed, doctors may be able to perform surgery remotely in remote regions. This will create new possibilities for social and economic growth which will allow Digital Pakistan's dream a possibility.

5G would continue to digitize Pakistan by integrating even more users with robust, purpose-built infrastructure to open up possibilities for both business and individuals. This technology would allow future developments in sectors such as public safety, remote education, health transport, and manufacturing, among many others. Importantly, this technology can provide supporting mechanisms to deliver better services and improve user experience, not only for phone companies such as Ufone, as well as for fixed-line providers such as PTCL, which also provide fixed-wireless networks.

On the ceremony, Syed Amin Ul Haque, Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, said, "I am pleased to be here at this important ceremony as the PTCL Group is taking a development milestones towards a fruitful 5G technology trial in Pakistan. I assume that networking plays a key role in the growth of the social economy and facilitates the financial integration of the country. The 5G technology would definitely make for an evolving technical environment and an eco-system conducive to economic growth in Pakistan."

On the event, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Federal Secretary for IT and Telecom & Chairman of the PTCL Management board, said, "We are committed to the idea of Digital Pakistan. The successfully 5G test of PTCL Group today is a big move that will set the stage for the digitization of Pakistan. This technology will open new opportunities in many sectors, such as health, education, connectivity and security which will have a significant social and environmental impact in Pakistan."
