1.3 billion fake accounts taken down from Oct to Dec

Between October and December last year, Facebook said on Monday that there are more than 1.3 billion false accounts, adding that more than 35,000 people are working on the Platform for addressing misinformation.

More than 12 million content items on the COVID-19 and vaccines flagged in a blog post by global health experts were removed.

In social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter, false claims and conspiracies over the vaccination of Coronavirus have increased during the pandemic.

Facebook's disclosure of misinformation data takes priority over an inspection of how technology platforms including Facebook tackle misinformation by the US House Committee on Energy and Trade.
