Aaqib Javed Slams current Pakistan Cricketers to have 'slave mentality'

Aaqib Javed, the former fast bowler, claims that Pakistani players have no leadership skills in the current crop and their 'slave mindset.' Javed said every player took responsibility during his playing days and was playing terrifying cricket, which made them successful.

The Pakistan cricket team used to play with zeal and violence, Javed who was part of the 1992 World Cup team said they were on a pitch with outstanding performances and won titles for their country. He said the present team is ineffective in zeal and aggression.

"We do not have to rely on prayer to win the matches but on enthusiastic and aggressive leaders. No one told us to bowl like this or that before every ball. With this slave mentality, we can't enjoy [cricket]. It is very difficult to get in the right way," Javed said.

Javed was also perplexed at the omission, for the South African and Zimbabwe squad, of the all-rounder, Imad Wasim, from the small overtime party. Javed claims that over recent years, Imad has been and should have been one of Pakistan's best performers. Instead of Babar Azam in limited formats, Javed claims that Imad should have been declared the captain of Pakistan.

Javed is now the head coach of the Lahore Qalandars franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He succeeded in bringing Lahore Qalandars to the first-ever PSL final in the preceding season after four dreadful seasons. Due to the COVID-19 scenario, Lahore was one of the most recent informal teams until the tournament was delayed.
