Apple stops iPhone 12 Mini production due to weak demand

According to different media sources, Apple iPhone 12 Mini did not meet the company's standards. Apple will no longer use the iPhone 12 mini due to low demand, as the supply chain analyst expected. In the first half of this year, the production of the mini decreased 70% or more, order slashes on all iPhones by about 20% relative to estimates of the group. The decline mainly involves the Micro, its most inexpensive 5G tool. The report also states that some suppliers are ordered to stop manufacturing mini parts.

It expects that 75 million iPhones including the new iPhone 12 and older models will be manufactured in the first 6 months of 2021. Compared to the first half of last year, it is comparatively less than 96 million expectations but still large.

Reuters released analysis results last month showing that the 12 mini iPhone did not hit the Apple targets, though mini shipments contributed just 5% to Apple's smartphone revenue in the first half of January.

"Apple has overestimated both iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 mini-market, said Jeff Pu, a veteran mobile phone analyst. Consumers will not be so good about the changes in screen size immediately," Pu said. "Most users decide to use the older iPhone 11 at the large screen because the price is the same."

In comparison with last year, Apple also retains its production of almost 230 million iPhones. Last year, 206 million iPhones produced by Apple and 90.1 million delivered from October to December, and by 2020, Apple's shipments rose 7.9%.

The study also notes that it plans to introduce two new MacBooks in May or June in mass production. These new MacBooks come with small LED displays and are powered by the silicon of the brand. Other than the difficult sales of the iPhone 12 Mini, Apple will also be launching iPhone 13 mini its year.
