Google Honors Women’s Firsts on International Women’s Day

The annual International Women's s Day is celebrated today by Google, which shows a number of firsts in women's history.

A video by Doodle honors and recognizes women who have dared to open doors and challenge society to meet their aspirations and ambitions.

The Doodle also underlined the women's hands that have opened women's doors today, including women who voted first and other activists. Google also highlighted in today's Doodle the pioneering women scientists, authors, athletes, and artists from all over the world. The topic this year is "#ChooseToChallenge" for International Women's Day (8 March).

In today's International Doodle of Women 2021, Helene Leroux has highlighted her own grandmother who inspired him to produce images that adorn global Google homepages.

"Special connection was made for me on the theme "Women Firsts." My great grandmother (who, when I was a child, I remember drawing with) was an amazing artist, but she could never really do art professionally. I became the first woman in my family to study art and establish a drawing career. Back then, I wish she should have had the same opportunity! In reality, l snuck as a video animator in a shot from my profession. It was an area dominated by men when I began, and I am proud to now see so many woman animators and directors," Helene Leroux noted.
