Haq said, 'Mobile firms should produce phones locally'

The government supports telecommunications companies in the country to manufacture and build mobile phones in a manner that reduces mobile rates, according to the Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque.

He said during the inauguration of the Information Technology park in the Hyderabad Institute of Arts Science and Technology, "We want our workers to purchase a high-quality Rs8,000-Rs12,000 cell phone instead of spending Rs50,000-Rs100,000.

He believes that mobile smartphones would have been lower, and more work openings would have been developed if past governments had formulated this much sooner. Local smartphone development by mobile companies must be promoted.

The Minister states that 16 software technology parks with a gross area of 1,169,500 square feet already provide technology firms in the country with state-of-the-art facilities. Substantial export advancements have occurred in Pakistan's IT sector, but he noted that the attention remained mainly on Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.

The world is always changing, according to Haque, and daily new mobile applications are released.

"We must reflect on developments and take action to advance the world," he said. The IT company is watching changes and innovations in the future, he added.
