Pakistan football to return as PFF confirm the participation in SAFF Championship

The men's football team in Pakistan is set to return to competitive football this year following confirmed participation by the Pakistan Footbook Federation (PFF) in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) which will take place in Bangladesh in September.

The PFF also confirmed that in order to arrange international friendly matches for the men of the Pakistan football team before the tournaments it has contacted various (Asian Football Confederation) AFC countries.

It also announced a series of training camps beginning in May, which will take place from 14 to 25 September at the regional championship.

The PFF's spokesman said that the first training camp would be carried out from 21 May to 15 June. From 28 June to 20 July the national side will be reunited, followed by a further training camp from 1 to 20 August. From 28 August until the end of the 2021 SAFF Cup, it will be back together again.

There are still places to be chosen for the training camps.

The spokesman also added that during the FIFA Windows that will take place between 31 May and 15 June, 30 August and 7 September, 4 to 12 October, and 8 and 16 November, Pakistan will be able to play the International Friend of Pakistan.

"The Federation of Football in Pakistan came to different Asian countries and asked them to participate against the team in Pakistan," he said.

Haroon Malik, Chairman of PFF Normalization Committee, said that the men's national team is a major breakthrough in the Federation.

"Pakistan's national men's team will be competing with all the AFC Member Associations at the SAFF Cup in September and FIFA Windows. PFF focuses on the improvement of the game's impact and investment. For Pakistan, we all play," he said.

In the meantime, PFF's technical director Daniel Limones said that PFF is focusing on preparing the team to compete at the highest level.

He added the PFF will also announce in the coming weeks that the National Women's Team of Pakistan and the women's age groups will be on schedule as well. In due course, the calendar for domestic tournaments will be also shown.
