Babar Azam breaks the record of Virat Kohli by making 2,000 T20I runs to become fastest batsman

Skipper Babar Azam of Pakistan added another bat feather to his hat as he was the fastest to score 2,000 T20I runs.

The impressive feat from 52 T20I innings could be achieved. In 56 innings, Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who previously held the record, was effective in doing the same.

This makes Azam the third Pakistani batsman to achieve this success, with the other two who scored 2000 T20I runs, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez.

He is the 11th cricketer with 2000 T20I runs.

The Pakistani skipper's achievement comes earlier this month, shortly after he overthrew Indian Captain Virat Kohli to become the world's top-ranked ODI superman.

Azam now ranks at the top of 865 points in the ICC ODI batsman ranking and Kohli ranks 2 at 857 points.

Azam finished Kohli's five-year reign at the top of the ICC rankings with the latest rankings. Since October 2017, the Indian skipper had been on the table.

After 228 runs in the recently concluded ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa, the Pakistan runner propelled to the top of the table.

This was the world's first ODI Batsman for Azam. It was the first time.

In 2003, former captain Mohammad Yousof was the last Pakistani to achieve this feat.

In accordance with the PCB, Azam is Pakistan's fourth batsman to hit the top of the ODI batting table after Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, and Mohammad Yousuf.
