Mehmood Zahid Opts of Zimbabwe T20Is because of fear

Leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood has chosen to leave the T20I series because of his fear of flying alone by air, who was included in the T20I Squad against Zimbabwe in replacement of injured vice-captain Shadab Khan. On 21 April, Zahid will only be a member of the National Test Team and will fly to Harare with other team members.

According to sources, when he was told of his travel arrangements, Mehmood, part of Lahore's national team training camp, had a nervous breakdown. Mehmood said he had never visited Zimbabwe and couldn't go to Zimbabwe alone.

Officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to change the plans and only allowed him to become a member of the test team.

Mehmood made his international debut in the recently ended T20I series against South Africa in Pakistan, picking up three crucial wickets and leading Pakistan to a 2-1 series win over the Proteas.

In the forthcoming season, Zahid Mehmood is trying to make his test debut against Zimbabwe, and repeat his excellent form internationally.
