Microsoft releases Office 2021 for Mac preview

The Office 2021 update for Mac and Office LTSC is released this week by Microsoft. Though Office LTSC (Long-Term Service Channel), all models of the Office are perpetual versions that are not dependent on subscriptions or the cloud, are designed for business customers. In February Microsoft announcing its Office 2021 plans and also later this year a Windows update will be launched, which isn't going to be available for preview.

Office 2021 for Mac supports Silicon Apple and Intel-based Macs as well and needs at least 4GB of RAM and 10GB of disc space. It is intended to be a static Office release, but monthly releases can also contain new features during the preview. No new features are introduced after the Office 2021 for Mac is finished and released. Current updates include:

  • Focus line, this feature eliminates distractions to enable Word users to move line by line across a document.
  • XLOOKUP, Excel feature for a table or range of objects per row.
  • Excel dynamic array support, with new dynamic array functions in spreadsheets.
  • Record a PowerPoint narrative slide show.

The Office LTSC version of Microsoft will also provide items such as support for dark mode, enhanced connectivity and the same Dynamic Arrays and XLOOKUP capabilities used in Excel 2021 on Mac. Related features are used in Windows Office 2021.

You need to download an installer from Microsoft's site and a special Volume License Serializer in order to enable the preview if you are interested in testing Mac Office 2021.
