PM Imran Inaugurates major SCO projects

A number of important and big projects of the special communication organization were opened by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan today (SCO). The DG SCO, Major General Muhammad Shahid Siddeeq presented briefings on the projects including telecoms and internet services for GB's beautiful area during the opening ceremony. The Prime Minister was also presented.

The projects are governed by the advancement of telecommunications and IT. In addition, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for SCO's forthcoming IT ventures. The Premier underlined the importance of these projects in line with the latest developments in the world.

The PM said at the event,

I am pleased to see the recent remarkable developments in the field of connectivity and IT and IT which are reflected in mobile service growth such as 4G and broadband networks launch and cloud-based digital platforms and data centres, both indicators of extremely positive progress in the region.

SCO has recently worked hard to develop telecom connectivity for citizens of GB in a variety of major ventures. All of these welfare and developmental services, especially for the younger generation, will be expanded by the SCO.

A number of projects, including the Pak-China OFC Project Phase-1, the SCO Triple Play Service (GPON), IP-based VSAT Hub, state-of-the-art SCO KIU Incubation Center Gilgit, and installing the Ali Sadpara BTS system in K2 Base Camp Concordia have already been completed.

Moreover, Prime Minister Gilgit also laid the foundations of many new projects, including Pak-China OFC Project Phase II, SCO Data Center Gilgit, and SCO IT Park Nasirabad Hunza, which will be implemented in the near future.
