Virat Kohli becomes first batsman to score 6,000 IPL runs

Capt. Virat Kohli was the first batsman in the India Premier League to score 6,000 runs on Thursday (IPL).

In 196 matches, India's skippers Kohli has crossed the milestone leading ahead of Suresh Raina (5.448 runs), Shikhar Dhawan from Delhi (5.428), David Warner from Hyderabad (5.384), and Rohit Sharma from Mumbai (5,368).

Kohli's unbeaten knock of 72 was overshadowed by the twenty-year-old Devdutt Padikkal, who killed 101 out of 52 balls in a 10-strong victory over Rajasthan Royals to be the youngest IPL bat scores for a century.

After the Padikkal smashed six and 11 fours, Kohli said, "I had the highest seat in the house. "You can't always be the man who prevails. Tonight I had to hold on and my role was different. Tonight."
