In less developed areas, the IT Ministry spends Rs. 30 billion on internet and connectivity projects

Member countries had been briefed on the plans of the IT Ministry at a high-level virtual meeting held at the Ministry of IT on World Telecommunications and Information Society Day. The meetings reported that a number of projects worth over 30 billion rs are implemented under the IT Minister in under-served and unauthorized areas of the country to provide mobile phone connections and Internet services.

Participants also received an update on various cabinet-approved policies to meet the Prime Minister of Pakistan's Digital Pakistan vision. Members of ITU commended the efforts of Pakistan and assured cooperation. A number of initiatives and policies to link the people of Pakistan to the digital world are being implemented.

The meeting was headed by IT Secretary Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui. Different IT officials were sometimes present. Member Telecom informed of the success of telecom activities in Pakistan so far. Members Telecom informed the meeting.
