IT Ministry to set up two software technology parks in Rawalpindi and Faisalabad

There are two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) for the creation of the software technological facilities at Faisalabad and Rawalpindi, which have been signed by the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT).

The Faisalabad information technology park will measure 19,500 square meters and is the first-ever software technology in the world.

In Rawalpindi, the Amazon Outlet Center will have an area of 44,000 sq ft., a digital technology park. The need for additional information technology parks in the double cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be addressed by the technology market.

IT Secretary, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, said the current government is giving the IT industry the highest priority. Strong government funding and rewards facilitate the industry.

The project is one of several projects undertaken for developing the IT sector in the country's software-technology parks. Around 40 software parks, including 11 in KPK, Karachi Technology Park, and the state-of-the-art Software Technology Park Gilgit, are currently underway under public/private partnerships.
