KP govt extends to closing of colleges and universities amid surge in COVID cases

Given the recent worrying increase in COVID-19 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government agreed on Friday to keep all colleges and universities closed until May 23rd.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Kamran Khan Bangash, all public and private colleges and universities in the province will remain closed until May 23rd. He also mentioned that a notice had been given in this regard.

According to the spokesperson, the provincial government made the decision based on the federal government's directives due to the worsening of the coronavirus situation.

Earlier today, Punjab Education Minister Dr. Murad Raas announced that all public and private schools in the province will be closed until May 23 due to the third wave of COVID-19.

Murad Raas said in a tweet that the decision to close schools was taken in light of the coronavirus spread situation. He had also stated that a review meeting in this regard will be held on May 18.

Murad Raas had advised people to follow corona standard operating procedures (SOPs) to the letter and intent of the law in order to protect themselves and others from the virus.
