Twitter Paused Verification Requests for Blue Tick

Twitter just reopened its verify program. But today, after a little over a week of relaunching Twitter suspended the verify requests for blue ticks. The reason is that Twitter has received a lot of applications, and it takes time to examine them before it can accept fresh applications. Unfortunately, the specific date for reopening requests has not been disclosed by Twitter. It vows, though, to "reopen requests soon."

After more than three years, Twitter restarted its account verification service. The procedure of verification was stopped in November 2017. The new verification programme now clarifies who may be confirmed. Twitter claims it gives the blue badge to "genuine, significant and active" accounts. The following six categories have also been declared by Twitter, for verification:

  • Government
  • Companies, brands and organizations
  • News organizations and journalists
  • Entertainment
  • Sports and gaming
  • Activists, organizers, and other influential individuals
