After showing Kashmir to a separate country Twitter causes outrage in India

The map of India, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh outside India, changed. Twitter showed Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are distinct countries, not part of India, according to the Twitter career webpage. This change was seen on a "Tweep Life" page. The app showed Leh's geographic location as "Jammu and Kashmir, People's Republic of China."

The new IT laws in force on 25 May compel social media companies to develop a complaint system for solving complaints by users or victims.

The American Digital Giant disputes the new social media laws with the Indian government.

Twitter has been deliberately criticised the government for failing to comply with the country's new IT regulations, forcing Twitter to lose its legal protections as an Indian broker and to be liable for any illegal information posted by users.

This sparked massive social media protests. A request for comment was not responded to immediately by the firm. Police denounced the violation of IT legislation and guidelines meant to prevent animosity and hatred between classes by Twitter Indian Chairman Manish Maheshwari and another Corporate Executive.

Indian Minister for Science and Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has criticised and denied access to his Twitter account Twitter for not complying with Indian regulations.
