NCOC Reveals Its Proposed Schools Summer Vacation Plan

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) recommends that owing to the expected fourth outbreak in July, schools take a summer holiday from 18 July to 2 August.

However, the Punjab government has opposed the proposal and suggested a one-month summer vacation from 2 July to 2 August.

At the end of this week, the decision will be taken by Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister of Education, in the context of the interprovincial education conference (IPEC).

The provincial administration announced in May that all public and private schools in Punjab will have brief summer vacations to avoid academic harm caused by repeated closures of schools during the third outbreak of COVID-19.

Punjab School Education Minister Murad Raas claimed that the pandemic has led to a great deal of suffering among students and that summer vacations would be shortened to two or three weeks.

He also said that the government was aware of the hazards associated with the unusually hot weather and assured that "the authorities would act properly in the event of an extraordinary situation."
