WhatsApp users can soon use their accounts on four devices

There have been several reports on the web concerning the multi-device support of WhatsApp for a long time. Now the popular messaging application has announced its multi-device compatibility in the coming months. This allows users to control their accounts from up to four connected devices. Also publicly announced were several new features like "Once View" and "disappearing mode." An interview with Facebook Ceo Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp Head Will Cathcart was done between WABetaInfo and the announcement.

In addition to the multi-device support, Mark also announced that WhatsApp would launch a new "view once" feature that allows users to share content that goes away after viewing it. Furthermore, WhatsApp is extending its messages-disappearing feature, allowing messages to be wiped after a certain time. In future, the user will be allowed to turn on messages that disappear across all chat threads in a new "disappearing mode."

Furthermore, Mark Zuckerburg confirmed that the upcoming multi-device feature will not compromise WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption. He says,

End-to-end encryption will continue. Even when your phone battery dies it's a big technical difficulty to sync all your messages and material properly, but we have solved this and look forward to get it out soon.

Although WhatsApp would not confirm a date for "view once" and "disappearing mode" features to launch, but Cathcart said multi-device support will enter public beta "in the next month or two."

WABetaInfo stated that, in addition to multi-device support, WhatsApp is currently working with a new encrypted chat backup feature protected by password, which allows users to transfer their chat history between iOS and Android devices.
