NIH will create a proper research consortium COVID-19

The Islamabad National Institute of Health (NIH) addressed public and private research institutions throughout the country, asking for information from a consortium at the national level for data sharing of the COVID-19 study.

The NIH sought input from a few institutions capable of carrying out a complete or partial Coronavirus genome sequence meant to join the COVID-19 national research partnership. The data was extracted in detail.

The aim of the development of a national COVID-19 consortium is to enhance institutions' research capacity, enable them to conduct more concentrated research, and avoid recurrence. This would allow each other to track the distribution and evolution of the Coronavirus.

At now, only its COVID-19 genome sequencing is divided and studied by the NIH Islamabad and Aga Khan University (AKU).

In addition, the National Institute of Blood Diseases (NIBD), the National Institute of virology (NIV) and the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT); the University of the Dow Health of Health Sciences (DUHS), the University of Ziauddin; the University of Quaid-e-Azam (QAU).
