Oil sales in Pakistan increased by 18% YoY in FY2021

According to the study report by Topline Securities, Pakistan's oil sales grew by 18 percent year-over-year in FY2021 at 19,4 million tonnes.

This demonstrates a significant rebound since pandemic lockdowns resulted in a 12% decrease in oil sales last year.

Motor Spirit sales have risen 12 percent, spurred by a recovery in the economy and growing vehicle and motorcycle sales, reaching 8,2 million tonnes. At 7.7 million tonnes, the sales of high-speed diesel (HSD) showed 16% increase over the last year (YoY). Furnace Oil (FO) sales have risen by 53% to about 3 million tonnes.

In June 2021, total oil sales in Pakistan were up 15 percent from June 2020 by a monthly comparison, showing a 4 percent rise from May 2012.


PSO was a major participant in FO and its market share grew to 46%. In June 2021, its sales reported at 858,000 tonnes, the largest monthly turnover recorded by PSO in FY2021.

The study also indicated a 35% rise in sales from Shell, while sales from HASCOL fell in 2021.
