Oppo patents a dual sided phone with a wraparound display

Oppo's a smartphone that looks futuristic and can be used by both sides. This patented device features a wrap-around display, which wraps around the entire device, similar to the Mi Mix Alpha.

In May 2021, Oppo was granted, but just recently. This patent surfaced. Jermaine Smit, the man behind Concept Creator who works with LetsGoDigital, created renders for this patent.

The patent contains a smartphone with a double-facing screen that covers the whole device, including the front, side and back. Frame borders are in the corners and the rear of the main camera is also extended. 4 lenses and an LED flash are provided in this camera setup.


A periscope lens would appear in the main camera to provide reliable zoom capability. The main camera is easy to shoot with selfies as the screen is on both sides.

It is reported that the side of the screen may be used for status data including battery level, signal strength, Internet connection, notifications, and more.

Oppo also detailed how to assembled this handset. The firm documents that the thin screen may thus easily be disassembled on the central frame. Between the screen and the frame an ultra-thin stainless plate supporting the thin screen flexibility.

Since this device is just in its patent stage, however, it is unclear whether it is ever released to the public. This information is recommended to be taken with a salt grain.
